Maiori and Minori are two neighboring towns that can easily be visited in the same day, and the scenic Path of the Lemons connects them through traditional lemon terraces with beautiful views over the sea.
This itinerary is ideal for guests who want a quieter day than Amalfi or Positano, while still enjoying the beauty of the coast. It combines time by the sea, a pleasant walk, and the chance to stop for lunch, pastries, or a drink in two charming towns.
Start the day in Maiori, where you can enjoy the long promenade, the beach, and the relaxed atmosphere. It is one of the easiest towns on the Amalfi Coast to walk around, so it makes a very comfortable first stop.
Suggested time here: 2–3 hours
From Maiori, continue on foot to Minori along the Path of the Lemons. This is one of the most scenic and authentic short walks on the Amalfi Coast, passing through lemon terraces, stairways, and viewpoints over the coastline.
Walking time: about 30–45 minutes
Difficulty: easy to moderate
After the walk, spend some time in Minori. It is smaller and quieter than Maiori and is especially known for its historic atmosphere and pastry tradition. It is a great place to stop for lunch or for a dessert at Sal De Riso.
Suggested time here: 2–3 hours
This day trip is less about rushing between major sights and more about enjoying the atmosphere of the coast. In Maiori you can relax by the beach or along the promenade, while in Minori you can explore the quieter streets and stop for food or pastries. The walk between the two towns is one of the highlights of the day and offers a more local and peaceful side of the Amalfi Coast.
The easiest option is usually the ferry from Salerno Concordia Port.
Walking time from the apartments to the port: about 15 minutes
Ferry duration: about 45–60 minutes
Ferry price: usually €10–€15, depending on the company and season
You can also travel by SITA bus from Salerno.
Bus duration: about 1 hour – 1 hour 20 minutes
Bus price: approximately €3–€5
Departure point: Salerno bus terminal near the train station
Walking time from the apartments to the station: about 20–25 minutes
The best way to connect the two towns during this day trip is on foot via the Path of the Lemons.
Walking time: about 30–45 minutes
If preferred, Maiori and Minori are also very close by road and can be connected by local bus or taxi.
At the end of the day, you can return to Salerno by ferry or bus from either Maiori or Minori, depending on the schedules that suit you best.
Return by ferry: about 45–60 minutes
Return by bus: about 1 hour – 1 hour 20 minutes
This itinerary is best enjoyed as a relaxed full day trip. Including transport, time in both towns, the walk, lunch, and some time to stop and enjoy the views, it is best to allow around 7 to 9 hours.
The best route is usually Salerno → Maiori → Path of the Lemons → Minori → Salerno, although it can also be done in reverse. Comfortable shoes are recommended for the walk, and bringing water is a good idea, especially in warm weather.
This is one of the nicest day trips for guests who want a slower pace, beautiful views, and a more authentic side of the Amalfi Coast.
If you would like to combine nature, unforgettable views, and one of the most famous towns on the Amalfi Coast, this is an excellent day trip. The Path of the Gods is one of the most scenic hikes in the area, and it pairs perfectly with a visit to Positano at the end of the walk.
The most common route is to start the hike in Bomerano, in Agerola, walk across the mountain trail to Nocelle, and then continue down to Positano. After the hike, you can relax in Positano, enjoy the beach or the town center, and return to Salerno in the evening.
Start the day by travelling from Salerno to Bomerano, which is the best-known starting point for the Path of the Gods.
The classic trail runs from Bomerano to Nocelle and offers spectacular views of the coast, cliffs, and sea throughout the walk.
Walking time: about 2–3 hours
Difficulty: moderate
From Nocelle, you can continue down to Positano using the long staircase to the town. This part adds more walking, but it allows you to finish the day directly in Positano.
Additional walking time: about 45–60 minutes
Difficulty: moderate to challenging
After the hike, spend some time in Positano to relax, have lunch or an early dinner, walk by the beach, and enjoy the views before returning to Salerno.
Suggested time here: 2–3 hours
Option 1: Ferry + Bus
Salerno → Amalfi (ferry) → Bomerano (bus)
Duration: 1h 30 – 2h
Price: €12–€20
Option 2: Bus + Bus

Useful tips, local information, and helpful links for getting around and enjoying your stay.
Bus tickets must generally be purchased before boarding, as they are usually not sold on the bus. In Salerno, tickets can be bought at most tobacco shops (Tabacchi) around the city, and there is also a ticket office at the Vinciprova Bus Station.
If you are travelling along the Amalfi Coast, bus tickets are also commonly available at local tobacco shops. In most cases it is not possible to buy tickets directly on the bus, although some small local shuttle services, such as the Ravello–Amalfi shuttle, allow tickets to be purchased on board.
Buses connect Salerno (Vinciprova station) with several towns along the coast, including Vietri sul Mare, Cetara, Erchie, Maiori, Minori, Atrani, and Amalfi. Please check the timetable in advance, as schedules may vary depending on the time of year and day of the week.
https://www.sitabus.it/wp-content/uploads/2013/02/amalfi-salerno.pdf
Ferry timetables between Salerno and the towns along the Amalfi Coast are available on several websites, where you can check departure times, routes, and ticket prices. These sites provide a convenient way to compare different ferry companies and plan your journey in advance. Below you will find a link to one of the websites where you can view the latest schedules and ferry options.
Ferries to the Amalfi Coast depart from Concordia Port, located directly opposite Salerno’s main train station and about a 15-minute walk (approximately 1.1 km) from the apartments. From here you can reach most towns along the Amalfi Coast, including Amalfi, Positano, Maiori and Minori.
If you would like to visit Capri, ferries usually depart from Molo Manfredi, which is closer to the apartments at about a 10-minute walk (around 750 m).
Ferry tickets can be purchased online in advance or at the ticket office located at Concordia Port. However, if the weather forecast is uncertain, it is often better to buy tickets directly at the ticket office, as ferry services are sometimes cancelled when sea conditions are poor and refunds for online tickets can be difficult to obtain.
In most cases, booking transport in advance is not necessary for local travel around Salerno and the Amalfi Coast.
For buses and short train journeys (such as Salerno to Pompeii, Naples, or Paestum), tickets can usually be purchased on the same day or even shortly before departure. Buying one day in advance is more than enough for peace of mind.
For ferries, it is generally possible to buy tickets on the day, but during the high season (June–September) or on weekends, we recommend booking at least one day in advance to secure your preferred time.
Advance booking is mainly important for long-distance trains (for example, Salerno to Rome or Turin), where reserving early can help you get better prices and guaranteed seats.
The best way to reach the Amalfi Coast towns (such as Amalfi, Positano, or Minori) from Salerno is by ferry.
Ferries are slightly more expensive than buses, but they are much more comfortable, faster, and far less crowded. During the busy season, buses can become extremely full and may even skip stops if there is no space available, which can make travel unpredictable.
However, ferries can sometimes be affected by weather conditions, especially in case of rough seas. If ferry services are suspended, the best and only alternative is to travel by bus.
You can easily reach the apartments from Salerno train station in several ways:
On foot – the apartments are about a 20-minute walk from the station. This is a pleasant option if you are travelling light.
By local train – you can take a short train ride from Salerno station to Duomo–Via Vernieri, which is the closest station to the apartments.
By taxi – taxis are available just outside the main train station, and this is the most convenient option if you have heavy luggage. The journey is quick and direct.
Parking in the historic center of Salerno can be challenging, so we generally recommend avoiding arriving by car if possible. Public transport (trains, buses, and ferries) is much easier, less stressful, and often faster—especially during peak season.
The apartments are located in the most beautiful and central area of the city, close to all main attractions, restaurants, and the seafront. This area is a Limited Traffic Zone (ZTL), meaning access by car is restricted to residents only.
If you do arrive by car, there are two main parking options:
Parking Duomo (inside the historic center, very close to the apartments)
This is the most convenient option, but also more expensive and often busy.
https://maps.google.com/?q=Parking+Duomo+Salerno
Piazza della Libertà Parking (further away, but cheaper)
This is a larger parking area by the sea, about a 10–15 minute walk from the apartments.
https://maps.google.com/?q=Piazza+della+Libertà+parking+Salerno
For visiting the Amalfi Coast, we strongly discourage using a car. The roads are very narrow, traffic is heavy, and parking is extremely limited. The only major parking is in Amalfi town (a multi-storey car park), which fills up quickly in summer.
Instead, we highly recommend using ferries or buses, which are much more convenient and allow you to enjoy the views without the stress of driving.
Yes, Salerno is generally a very safe city, including in the historic center where the apartments are located. The area is lively, well-lit, and full of restaurants, bars, and people enjoying the evening.
Guests can comfortably go out for dinner, drinks, or a walk and return late at night without concerns.
As in any city, we recommend using normal common sense (keeping an eye on personal belongings, avoiding very quiet areas late at night), but overall Salerno is considered a safe and welcoming destination for visitors.
